Working out can sometimes be boring, but one way to have fun while working out is to go rock climbing. While climbing people gain strength and build muscle. It also increases mental strength and makes one challenge themselves. Rock climbing is also a good way to build technique and meet new people.

Students can rock climb at La Casa Pollo, Ozark Climbing gym, Pack Rat, and Lewis and Clark.

The rock climbing section at Lewis and Clark and Pack Rat are both very similar. They have indoor climbing walls. At Pack Rat, one can use the rock wall Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 4 pm to 6 pm. For more information about rock climbing at Pack Rat, call (479)-521-6340.

Another place to rock climb is at Lewis and Clark. One can rock climb Friday from 5 to 8:30 pm, Saturday from noon to 8:30 pm, and Sunday from noon to 5:30 pm. The climbing fee is two dollars per person. Lewis and Clark also allow parties to be held at their facility. For more information about reserving the wall visit the Lewis and Clark website.

La Casa Pollo and Ozark Climbing are both indoor climbing gyms. An indoor climbing gym is a large gym facility without the gym equipment and instead, the walls are covered in artificial walls that have hand and feet grips which are the “rocks” one uses to climb the wall. Some climbing walls are brick or wood. Some climbing gyms can also be outside.

La Casa Pollo is an indoor rock climbing gym by Lake Sequoyah Road. It is open from Tuesday through Friday 5-10 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 1-7 pm, and is closed on Monday. The price of daily admission is seven dollars, monthly $35, for 6 months $175 and a yearly fee of $350. To get more insight into La Casa Pollo and get the rates for rentals and groups check here.

The Ozark Climbing Gym is also a good place to climb. It is located in Springdale and is open from Monday through Friday 2-10 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 1-8 pm. Rates for memberships are $45 monthly with auto pay, $60 for a month or $500 for a year. Daily passes are $12 and 10-day punch cards are $105. To get family pricing and rentals visit Ozark Climbing.

“No time constraints? I would climb every day.” Said rock climber Sam Erickson. ” It is definitely confidence boosting, you can work on your self-esteem if you have problems like that, and a lot of people do. You are the only person you are climbing against. It’s just you and the rock.”

Whether students like to boulder or top rope there are many places to climb in NWA. All they have to do is find the right place.
