This coming November the Arkansas governor elections will be held. Current governor Asa Hutchinson will not be able to run for governor again this year due to reaching his term limits. Candidates running for governor this year are as follows:

Chris Jones – Jones is the Democratic candidate for this year’s gubernatorial election. He has a bachelor’s degree in physics and math, a master’s degree in nuclear engineering/technology and policy and a Ph.D. in urban planning. He has worked as a physicist, a minister and a non-profit leader. He promises to “[expand] preschool to all families, [bring] affordable broadband for every home, and economic development focused on creating high wage jobs.”

Sarah Huckabee Sanders – Sanders is the Republican candidate for governor. She has a degree from Ouachita Baptist University and has worked as the press secretary for Donald Trump, the campaign secretary for Mike Huckabee’s 2016 presidential campaign, and a senior advisor for Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. She promises to improve the Arkansas education system and to keep Arkansans “free from socialism and tyranny.”

Ricky Dale Harrington Jr. – Harrington is the Libertarian candidate for governor this year. He was born in Marshall, Texas and has both missions and ministry degrees. He has experience as the president of the Libertarian Policy Institute, as the CEO of Harrington Consulting LLC, and as a crisis prevention technician. He plans to address problems with criminal justice reform, Arkansas’ healthcare system and children’s education.

Dan Nelson – Nelson is a write-in candidate for governor this year. He promises to have no politics in his campaign, to get rid of all taxes and other radical plans.

Elvis Presley – Presley is a write-in candidate this year. He has previously run for an Arkansas government seat and plans to “supply the people with a broader array of employment and newer chain of state government.” He is also an Elvis Presley impersonator in his spare time.
